YARN: A Swell Yarn Shop's Skinny Duet Sock Yarn in the Sailor Girl Colorway
NEEDLE SIZE: 1, addi turbo, 40" long cable, two at a time, magic loop
SIZE: 5 in women's
PATTERN: toe up, stockinette, with a short row heel, and k1p1 ribbing for the cuff; 60 stitches for the foot, 58 stitches for the cuff (resulting in the slight pooling, which I won't do again, just 60 stitches all around from now on!)
VERDICT: I love this yarn! It's soooo soft and easy to knit with. If it weren't for these, I'd seriously need a high dose of some sort of mood downer/stabilizer. By the time I finish school, I just might need it anyway, but for now, I'm hangin' on! The softness of the yarn makes for easy knitting, and I plan to knit up my Rocker Chick colorway Duet socks really, really soon! I knit on these socks during the Winter 2008 Quarter.
STARTED: Sunday, January 13, 2008
FINISHED: (blocking and crocheting the edging) Friday, February 1, 2008 (could've been done a lot sooner, but school/life got in the way)
YARN: Cascade 220, RHOyal blue & white *the color isn't anywhere near its real life appearance in this photo*
NEEDLE: Size 7 Knit Pick Harmonys
PATTERN: My own; 30 stitches across, keep the 2 side stitches on each end in garter stitch, and worked the graphed out pattern I'd made in the middle. Knit one half, put it on a holder, knit the other half, then Kitchener Stitch them together. Worked out well enough for me . . . now to either create or find a suitable poodle pattern for my own scarf!
ETA: I crocheted two rows of short rows to keep the edges from curling in.
I knit this for my good buddy's girlfriend, who happens to be a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.. Their symbol is the dove, so the hap-hazard white stitches surrounding the Z-Phi work well to semi-resemble that. I also knit it as a semi-protest to a lot of the black greek letter - mainly sorority - beefin' that I'd been seeing online. We HAVE to do better. EE - PHI !!!
